A Creative Guide
Reconnect with nature, slow down, and create stunning skeins of yarn using plants, kitchen scraps, and your own two hands. Even if you have never dyed a skein of yarn before.Â

Hi, I'm Annika!
I am a yarn dyeing artist and educator with a science background.
I'm also an avid knitter and love to create something with my hands every day.
I create sustainable, hand-dyed yarns and have been meticulously honing my expertise in natural dyeing since 2018.
How I Got Here
For years, I lived a fast-paced, stressful life — constantly rushing, juggling responsibilities, and leaving no time or energy for creativity.
On the outside, everything looked fine, but inside I felt drained and disconnected.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that something important was missing.

Then I Realized...
When my first daughter was born, everything shifted. I found myself craving more than just getting through the day — I wanted to live with intention, to slow down, and to reconnect with the things that really mattered.Â
I was longing for a creative outlet that aligned with a more sustainable, mindful way of living.
I picked up knitting, and not long after, I discovered the world of natural yarn dyeing.
It was like coming home to a part of myself I hadn’t even realized was lost.
How Does a Creative, Intentional Life Look?
Today, creativity is no longer something I squeeze into the margins — it’s woven into my everyday life.
Natural dyeing allows me to work with my hands, connect with nature, and create something meaningful from the simplest materials.
It’s not just about the yarn — it’s about the process, the pause, and the joy of making. And now, I help others rediscover that same joy.
If you’ve ever felt burned out, uninspired, or like you’ve lost touch with your creative self, I want you to know: it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Meet Grace from New Zealand
"I haven't had this much fun for a long while, and it is an incredibly satisfying process, from start to finish. I've recently come into natural yarn dyeing and what started as a one-off project for my students has become an insatiable curiosity and hobby for myself! I've just completed several variegated yarns (as per your guide instructions) and turned a Queen Anne's Lace dye into a white, green, and dark green wool. It turned out spectacularly, and I was able to gift it to my mother this weekend for her birthday."
Â

Meet Jill from the U.S.
"When I went shopping on Etsy to just casually browse for a bit of naturally dyed yarn, I wasn't thinking about dyeing any myself. Then I found you and your delightful website and wonderful blogs! Now I'm so excited to play with yarn myself, what fun! I am so very thankful for your wonderful instructions because I know it would have been a mess without them. Thanks to you sharing your hard-earned information, I know I've been saved hours of confusion and frustration. Your clear, concise instructions are the beginning of what I know will be a most enjoyable journey! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
Â

Meet Denise from Canada
"Perfect for my first attempts at dyeing and I am very happy with my results! The Golden Marguerite dyed wool was perfect!"
